A Gentle, Holistic Approach to Healing
Healing often happens when the mind, body, and nervous system are supported together. You may have already tried talking therapies, or you may simply sense that something deeper is needed — something that includes your whole experience, not just your thoughts.
If this feels like the kind of support you’ve been looking for, you’re very welcome to get in touch or book an initial session.
121 Talking Therapy
Talking therapy is just that — The healing that a person can receive from expressing themselves and being heard.
Some things are hard to articulate and benefit from the space and time to do just that. This is especially true when it comes to trauma and specific challenges of womanhood and motherhood.
Talking and being really heard is only part of the healing, the rest comes through developing a different perspective and learning powerful practices to strengthen resilience.
It is an investment which grows and, as a result, overwhelm and intense feelings can be transformed into a capacity to cope with various levels of adversity and challenges that life throws at us.
Talking therapy sessions are solution-focused and transformative. Multiple approaches are used to support you from a state of surviving to a state of thriving — In a real and felt sense.
Perinatal Support
Support for all seasons of parenthood is available with specialist expertise in the perinatal and postnatal period.
Particularly for mothers and expectant parents experiencing the physical, emotional, and identity-related changes that accompany early parenthood, birth and matrescence.
Coaching and emotional support with practical suggestions is an opportunity to just think things through.
It may be that you just want to have a bit of space to seek guidance or talk through a particular problem or worries and questions related to you, your baby’s health/behaviour or your own emotional wellbeing.
You don’t have to face parenthood alone…
Therapy and coaching can help you make sense of your experiences and find your way forward.
Expert Knowledge
I have a wealth of experience working as a specialist nurse in various settings and have been helping parents for over 25 years. As a mother to four children myself, I can assure you that no problem or worry is too big or too small.
I offer both traditional and holistic therapy. Implementing holistic methods when this feels comfortable for your individual process.
Support sessions are offered on the phone, online or in person.
Appointments are also available for attachment-focused challenges to build your confidence and positive relationship with your baby/little one. — This is an area especially helpful following birth trauma or for those who have had a challenging transition to parenthood.
I can also offer a healing reconnection ritual for you and your little one as a one-off session or as part of healing from a traumatic/difficult birth experience.
Available to all parents, inclusive of gender, sexuality, cultural background, and age.
Timely Support for Parents
NHS perinatal and birth trauma services are often overstretched with waiting lists and specific criteria for referral to receive emotional support. This is the case now more than ever since COVID-19, with the impact that lockdowns and restrictions have had on maternity care systems, which continue to affect people’s antenatal and postnatal experiences.
Perhaps you have heavy feelings of anxiety, overwhelm and postnatal depression? … Perhaps you are experiencing symptoms of PTSD following a traumatic event (birth/NICU)? Symptoms include experiences of flashbacks, hypervigilance, nightmares, and feeling stuck in fear or sadness, disconnected from your body.
I offer timely private therapeutic and holistic support for those experiencing heavy feelings of anxiety, overwhelm and postnatal depression.
Methods I use include traditional Talking Therapy, Compassionate Mind Therapy, Rewind, Hypnosis and Somatic Psychology, including EFT (tapping).
If you are feeling unhappy, distressed or worried about bonding with your baby, please don't struggle alone. If the overwhelm or emotional toll is impacting your relationship or experiences of parenthood, take the first step and contact me.
Support for Professionals
Birth professionals — Doulas, Midwives, Antenatal teachers
Holding space and supporting expectant and new parents is so rewarding but can also be very demanding and challenging.
This is particularly the case in a very stretched NHS healthcare system. The pressure of timeframes, protocols, and conflicting messages take their toll on supportive birth partners and professionals.
Advocacy in the medicalised landscape can be demoralising and extremely stressful. Witnessing a difficult birth, as a compassionate witness, is really hard. It can be a very lonely experience. Big feelings arise and often a real sense of helplessness and hopelessness.
I provide emotional support services for birth partners and professionals in absolute confidence and safety. If you are a birth professional and would like some support, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
